MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A major emergency drill is planned for today, 9 April, at 11:00 at the taxi rank alongside Langeberg Mall in Voorbaai, Mossel Bay.

This is according to Exousia Bulk Services, at the Shell Tank Farm in Voorbaai.

“The scenario that will form part of this drill, is a pedestrian that will 'be hit' by one of the our fuel tanker trucks.”

Exousia noted that the reason for this specific scenario was that many near misses occurred when commuters were dropped off in the middle of Depot Road.

The key role players that will be involved in the drill are:
Mossel Bay Traffic Department, Mossel Bay Fire Department, Mossel Bay Emergency Rescue Unit, ER24, Spilltech and Exousia Bulk Services.

Exousia wrote that it would stage a mock tanker rupture to create a spill that Spilltech would have to contain and it would discuss the scenario in a situation like this to create awareness of what risk would be involved when petrol leaked and how long it would take to declare the area safe and open again.
