MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A police detective and the Mossel Bay Regional Court prosecutor have been congratulated for their hard work which resulted in a 15-year sentence being handed down to a murderer.
A 24-year-old man was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment for the 2021 murder of Xolani Gantsu (39) in KwaNonqaba. Asanele Jack was found guilty of Gantsu's murder by the Mossel Bay Regional Court on 21 August this year and was sentenced to 15 years behind bars on 30 October.
KwaNonqaba Police Station spokesperson Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp said Gantsu was stabbed multiple times in Thembalihle Drive, KwaNonaqaba, on 18 April.
He said that following information received from the community, three people were arrested but the cases against two of them were later withdrawn.
Kapp said it was through the work of the investigating officer, Sergeant Alwyn Campher, and Mossel Bay Regional Court prosecutor Helga Goosen, that the 15-year sentence was secured. He commended them for their hard work and for ensuring that justice was served in this matter.
