MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A man narrowly escaped an unpleasant overnight stay in a trench on Tuesday, 17 June, when he was rescued by the municipality's Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management Services.
The man had fallen into a trench in Transand, near the KwaNonqaba Police Station, and became trapped when a large rock then fell onto his leg, pinning him down, leaving him unable to free himself.
Mossel Bay Municipality said Fire Services received the call for the entrapment at about 16:20. The municipality said when the team arrived, they found the man in the trench with a large rock on his right leg.
The municipality said the man was stabilised by paramedics before the rock was removed by 16:40. He sustained injuries to his right leg.
It is unclear what the extent of the injuries was, however, he is believed to have been in a stable condition when transported to hospital.
