MOSSEL BAY NEWS - An Ouma Sarie TV series is currently being shot at the Garden Route Media studio in George for e.tv and a good percentage of the actors are from the Mossel Bay area.
Ouma Sarie is the brainchild of George actor and comedian, Moses Williams, based on his grandmother, who was known for "calling a spade a spade" and being hilarious because she was just so downright honest.
Williams plays his grandmother. He became famous for his Ouma Sarie acts online during the lockdown and because of the huge following he attracted, making a TV series was a natural consequence.
The actors from the Mossel Bay area are on the books of Gemini Model and Talent Agency, the largest talent agency in the Southern Cape, based in Mossel Bay. There are also actors and models from beyond the Southern Cape on Gemini's books.
In the Ouma Sarie TV series, some of the Mossel Bay area actors have script roles and speak directly to Ouma Sarie, while others are background actors.
The actors are Emmie Taute Benn, who plays the role of Josephine; Leonie Petersen, who plays one of the women to whom Ouma Sarie gives lessons in self defence; Caurtney Cloete plays a secretary; Ashwell Naude, a worker; Elodiaan de Bruin, a morgue employee; Gerhard Petersen and Lionel Blaaw, both workers; Cameron Fillies, a drug client; and Julian Taute, a policeman.
Ouma Sarie is being filmed before a live audience in George. Filming will finish at the end of June.
