MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A Mossel Bay agent for actors and models, Frieda van der Walt, is super chuffed because one of her actors has made it to the top seven of the Plaasjapie television series on kykNET.
It is a Survivor-type series, in which the contenders must perform a number of feats on a farm and one gets eliminated each week.
Plaasjapie is screened each Thursday at 20:00 on kykNET's Channel 144 and the contenders were reduced from nine to seven last night.
Confidentiality clause
All the actors signed a confidentiality clause.
Frieda's actor is Andre Mouton on the reality series.
When he is not acting, Andre works as a grader operator for the Garden Route District Municipality.

Andre signed up with Frieda's Gemini Model and Talent agency on 16 February 2023 and Frieda secured him parts in television series Juffrou X, currently showing; the comedy series Ouma Sarie; and a Netflix film, Wildest Hearts.
Policeman
He was a policeman on Juffrou X, a town mayor on Ouma Sarie and he had a role as an extra on Wildest Hearts. Frieda says Andre was a "shy guy" when he signed up with her and she is delighted at how he has transformed into a confident actor.
Dedicated
She says: "He is really dedicated. If he's doing something, he puts everything into it. With the Ouma Sarie auditions, he learnt the words quickly and did a good video. That's his personality - hard working and diligent. He is always on time and dressed correctly and knows his lines."
Andre told Mossel Bay Advertiser that with the elimination challenge on Plaasjapie, there was a fine line between not doing your bit and being too strong.
"You get rid of the person who will be your strongest competitor," he notes. He said that within the next six weeks, it will be known who the Plaasjapie winner is. The show started with 16 contenders.
Explaining the process of choosing contenders for Plaasjapie, he notes: "We had an online interview with a psychologist. It was a threemonth process before you knew if you were chosen."
Shy
Speaking about being shy, he says: "I wanted to come out of my comfort zone and challenge myself. I did it for my kids too." He is married, with two daughters, aged 14 and 17.
They said: "No, dad. You will never do it." Andre notes: "I wanted to show them that they can do things too. You can do something you are not familiar with, test the waters in unfamiliar grounds. Hard work on a farm is nothing for me. I did some hard work, doing general work for the municipality, but now with minimum food and 15 strangers and no privacy, it is something different."
