MOSSEL BAY NEWS - On Saturday 16 August, the talented football players of Isalathiso Primary in Kwanonqaba represented their community at the Eden Regional Kay Motsepe Schools Cup competition.
The Isalathiso boys stole the show when they beat Chris Nissen Primary from Knysna 2-0 in a thrilling final at the Kwanokuthula Stadium in Plettenberg Bay.
The soccer festival got off to a perfect start with both schools pushing for goals.
Oyisa Gxaba of Isalathiso Primary opened the score, making it 1-0 in the game's first half.
Chris Nissen players were looking to score an equalising goal, but the solid back line of Isalathiso Primary made it difficult. The first half ended 1-0.
The game's second half saw both teams playing great touches on the ball and Isalathiso Primary's Georgie Mabandla extended their lead to 2-0.
The pressure was on Chris Nissen Primary in the second half, but no more goals were scored, even though the boys displayed great skill.
Isalathiso Primary secured a spot at the Western Cape Kay Motsepe U/13 Schools Cup Championships, taking place in the Central Karoo Region in Beaufort West later this year.
George Royal Academy (U/19 boys) and Thembalethu Primary (U/13 girls) will also be representing the Eden Region at the Western Cape Provincial Championships, alongside Isalathiso Primary.
