MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The third term of 2016 is at hand and the Bartholomeu Dias museum is ready to assist primary and high school learners through fun education programmes.
These programmes are presented at the museum of in the classroom. The museum is dedicated to helping teachers make their lessons even more effective and interesting.
The museum education programmes are there to add and re-enforce the teacher’s lesson.
Should learners not be able to travel to the museum, the museum officials will travel to the school to do the presentation in the classroom.
These education programmes are available at all affiliated museums in the Western Cape.
Programmes are the following:
All programmes include a powerpoint presentation, teacher's pack and a practical activity.
• National Symbols (Social Sciences: History for Grade R – 8)
• Fossil or palaeontology (Social Sciences: History and Geography for Grade 5)
• History of medicine (Social Sciences: History for Grade 6)
• Medicinal plants (Grade 6/10: Coastal and inland plants) This includes two separate programmes, Social Sciences (History) and Life Sciences (Biology).
• Early civilisations of South Africa the San and Khoekhoen (Social Sciences: History for Grade 5)
• Toys Travelling (Social Sciences: History for Grade 1-4)
• History Programme: The town of Mossel Bay (Social Sciences: History for Grade 4)
• Archaeology Programme (Social Sciences: History for Grade 6/7)
