MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The current Integrated Development Plan (IDP) of the Mossel Bay Municipality is the fifth of its kind and is for the period 2022 to 2027.
According to the IDP document, Mossel Bay had a population of 140 075 in 2022, which is expected to grow to 147 220 by 2027.
These residents live across Mossel Bay's 15 wards. A key aspect addressed in the IDP is the expenditure for each ward and what this money will be spent on.

Here is the planned spending for 2025/26. (councillors' names in brackets):
Ward 1 (Sibabalo Dubula)
Upgrading of water storage capacity for the Louis Fourie Corridor development, upgrading of Barcelona Business Park and new pavements – more than R8 million.
Ward 2 (Noxolo Gwaza)
Cameras at the illegal dumping hotspots and electrification projects – more than R10 million.
Ward 3 (Zithulele Matyesini)
CCTV cameras and upgrading of public open space – about R350 000.
Ward 4 (Annatjie Janse van Rensburg)
Replace sewer infrastructure at Monte Christo and medium and low voltage network upgrade at Riverside, Little Brak River – more than R1 million.
Ward 5 (Anton Dellemijn)
Replace Morrison Street overhead lines, additional sewage conservancy tanks at Pienaar Strand and Eekhoring Street and upgrade water pipeline between Great Brak Water Treatment Works and Glentana – more than R12 million.
Ward 6 (Mark Furness)
Upgrade Pinnacle Point collector sewer pipelines and upgrade public open space in Heiderand – about R620 000.
Ward 7 (Stephan Botha)
Sonskynvallei new access road and Bartelsfontein sewer network – R5 million.
Ward 8 (Lodewyk Coetzee)
Access road to Harry Giddey Park, replace fence at Mossel Bay Cemetery and upgrade 11kV underground cable – more than R2 million.
Ward 9 (Erica Meyer)
Replace sewer lines in Tarka, new sewer lines in D'Almeida and a taxi holding area at D'Almeida – R8 million.
Ward 10 (Leon van Dyk)
Upgrade Baydunes sewer pump station, upgrading of streets in Island View and upgrade Wassenaar Road in Seemeeu Park – more than R5 million.
Ward 11 (Nickey le Roux)
Upgrade of stormwater watercourse A Ferox Street, Dana Bay, upgrade Dana Bay collector sewer pipelines and play park equipment – more than R3 million.
Ward 12 (Witness Buda)
Upgrade stormwater system in the vicinity of Jansen Street, upgrade stormwater system in Joe Slovo (between Asazani/Izinyoka and Blue Waters) and replacement of buildings – more than R3 million.
Ward 13 (Rosina Ruiters)
Install security cameras at Indoor Sport Centre in Sampson Street, new sidewalks and temporary office structure and fencing for K9 Unit – more than R1 million.
Ward 14 (Donovan Claassen)
New street lights on Amy Searle Street near Wolwedans, upgrade roads and stormwater infrastructure in Friemersheim, mechanical and electrical components for sewer pump stations in Beneke Road, Friemersheim and Greenhaven sewer lines – more than R5 million.
Ward 15 (Mzwandile Mkonto)
New pavements and play equipment – R420 000.
