MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Health staff and role players healthcare in Mossel Bay have exciting events planned for Women’s Month at clinics (community day centres) in Mossel Bay.
"Our aim is to raise awareness in our communities regarding important matters such as breast examinations, pap smears and general women’s health issues", said Health Department clinical programme coordinator for Mossel Bay, Sjaneel Bush.
Health teams, in collaboration with the local municipality and NGOs, have already held a few events and have more planned for the month of August.
Health Department primary health care manager, Anna Lamprecht, said: "Our community health workers are actively mobilising women for our events. This is ultimately for them and their health. A healthy mom can take care of her family.
"We want healthy families and invite all women to attend our events. Our free services on the day will include pap smears (30+ years), HIV testing, blood pressure, diabetes sugar levels) and demonstrations on how to do breast examinations," said Lamprecht.
"We urge all ladies, young and old, to make time for themselves during Women’s Month."
Dates for the next events:
- 11 August - Eyethu clinic
- 18 August - Hartenbos clinic
- 25 August - Brandwag clinic
Events will be from 09:00 to 14:00.
