MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The KwaNonqaba Community Policing Forum (CPF) facilitated the handover of much-needed groceries to the family who lost two children in a house fire in 7de Laan, KwaNonqaba, on 5 May.
The fire started just after 23:00 that evening and was extinguished just before 00:00. The house was completely destroyed and the bodies of a nine-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl were found in the rubble of the home.
The handover took place on Thursday, 22 May. Assupol Life's Odwa Mazwi, and Bianca Williamson and Patricia Gaza, both from Sanlam, arrived at the KwaNonqaba Police Station to meet the grieving family and hand over the groceries.
The three representatives said they had also organised that Avbob would contribute R15 000 towards the funerals of the children.
The family of the children thanked the CPF and the representatives. The family still does not wish to be identified and it does not want the two deceased children's names published.
KwaNonqaba Police Station spokesperson Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp says the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
