MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Two children, one aged nine and the other 12, died in a fire in a home in an informal settlement in KwaNonqaba, Mossel Bay, last night, 5 May.
The bodies of the children were found among the burnt rubble of the home, which was razed to the ground.
KwaNonqaba Police Station spokesperson, Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, said the home was in an informal settlement behind Mbandezi Street.
He said police were called out to the scene just before 23:30 and when they arrived, the blaze had been extinguished.
Kapp said emergency medical services and Mossel Bay Fire Rescue and Disaster Management Services were on the scene when the police arrived.
The bodies of the two children were found just before 00:00, he said.
An inquest docket had been opened and the circumstances surrounding the fire and the deaths were being investigated by the KwaNonqaba Police, Kapp said.
