MOSSEL BAY NEWS - It was an extremely special day filled with celebration and emotion when the 93-year-old Tarka resident Nicklaas Sebrandt recently stood side by side with his grandson, Kevin Brown, as his best man at his wedding at Harry Giddey Park.
Brown married the love of his life, Renay, on 15 November and told Mossel Bay Advertiser it was a privilege to have his grandfather there to give him away, and to be at his side.
Brown said he had lost both his parents a few years ago and Sebrandt stood in for them, supporting his grandson when his parents couldn’t be there for him any more.
“I have so much respect for him and I feel honoured that he could be by my side as my best man,” he said.
Brown said it was a beautiful day for everyone, and that he was overjoyed his grandfather could also be there, especially at his age.
Sebrandt was born and raised in Mossel Bay, growing up and still residing in Tarka, where Brown and his wife live, too.
Sebrandt has seven children, 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
