MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay residents are asked to be on the lookout for two suspects implicated in a recent rape case in George.
The George Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) seeks assistance from the public to trace two suspects, a man and a woman who had been implicated in a recent rape that occurred in Pacaltsdorp on Thursday, 3 May at about 07:00.
Preliminary information indicates that the 11-year-old girl victim went to a tuckshop while on her way to school at about 07:00 that morning when the suspects approached and called her to their car. She refused to get into the car. They followed her and the female occupant got out of the car, grabbed her by the hand and foot and forced her into the back of the car with a man behind the wheel. They tied her hand and covered her mouth.
They then drove towards the Pacaltsdorp industrial area, where the man allegedly raped her twice while the female accomplice looked on and enticed the male suspect. They threw her out of the car after they had finished and drove off. She managed to walk back to her home in Pacaltsdorp. Initially, she did not report her ordeal to her mother.
She only told her mother a week later when the case was then reported to the Pacaltsdorp police and handed over for investigation to the George FCS. The only description the victim could give at the time was that the suspects drove a blue car, thought to be an older model Opel Cadet or similarly shaped car.
The child received medical attention and forensic social workers attached to the FCS unit are assisting her and assisted the investigating officer with the general preliminary investigation into the matter.
Anyone with information regarding the incident or whereabouts of the suspects should contact Sgt Yolande Carolus of the George FCS (044 8034621, 083 302 7510) or Crime Stop (08600 10111).
