MOSSEL BAY NEWS - For the last few months the non-profit organisation, The Surfer Kids, has employed two full-time, fully trained, qualified lifesavers at Dias Beach through its newly-established subsidiary, Bitcoin Ekasi.
The lifeguards operate seven days a week and last week they added another lifesaver to the programme.
Their vigilance, awareness and skills have led to at least two separate instances where people were saved from the well-known, treacherous currents at the beach.
Residents of Mossel Bay will know the Dias Beach surf has claimed several lives. Historically there have only been lifesavers during peak season.
Thanks to the new subsidiary programme, the lifesavers are employed on a full-time basis for the foreseeable future, which is wonderful news for locals and visitors alike.
This new initiative not only helps to employ local lifesavers but also ensures the safety of anyone who wants to enjoy the beautiful beach.
