UPDATE: According to FlySafair, cancelled and delayed flights were as a result of suspended flight procedures needed to access George Airport in poor weather. "Procedures are suspended as a result of ATNS (Air Traffic Navigation Services') failure to timeously renew these," the airline said on its web site.
GEORGE NEWS - Various flights scheduled for today from the George Airport to Cape Town and Johannesburg have been either "indefinitely delayed", cancelled or diverted.
This pertains to Safair, SA Airlink and Cemair flights.
According to a member of the public who had to drop a friend at the airport who was booked on a flight tonight to Johannesburg, it is apparently due to weather conditions.
Apparently there were Joburg flights that were coming in that have been diverted to Cape Town as well as Cape Town flights coming to George that have been diverted back to Cape Town.
Passengers booked on flights still leaving tonight are advised to confirm the status of their flight with the airport or their service provider.
More information will follow as it becomes available.
