MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A local businessman, Johan du Toit (57), appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court on Thursday, 13 February, on charges of possession of an unlicenced firearm and the illegal possession of ammunition.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, said Du Toit was arrested on 11 February in Hartenbos.
Kapp said the charges fall under the Firearms Control Act 60/2000 Section1(1).
"A ballistic report is pending to confirm whether the firearm and ammunition comply with the Act," he said.
Du Toit is expected to make his next appearance on 14 May.
