MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Various emergency services are set to gather at the Engen One Stop next to the N2 to Cape Town outside Mossel Bay to launch an Arrive Alive Awareness Campaign.
The launch will take place on Friday morning, 12 December, as the festive season gets under way in some places or is already in full swing in others.
The organiser, Janine Kok of the EMS Chaplaincy and Trauma Support, said representatives from various ambulance services, fire and rescue services and all other stakeholders will gather to show their readiness to assist motorists in emergency situations.
“The event aims to raise awareness about road safety and the importance of being prepared while travelling.”
Ahead of the launch, Kok provided some road safety tips to keep in mind:
- Ensure your vehicle is in good working condition before embarking on a long trip.
- Plan regular stops to rest and stretch your legs.
- Avoid driving when tired or fatigued.
- Follow all traffic rules and regulations.
- Be mindful of weather conditions and adjust your driving accordingly.
- Keep a safe following distance and be cautious of pedestrians and other vehicles.
Kok said the gathering point along the N2 is an ideal place to stop and rest while travelling, which also makes it ideal for their show of force. Motorists are more than welcome to approach them on the day for a chat.
