MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A total of 216 bowlers hailing from various districts will gather at the Hartenbos Bowling Club this Sunday, 23 August, for the official launch of the 2026 Nomads National Bowls Tournament, hosted by the Eden District Nomads Bowls.
The tournament will take place over five days, from Sunday until Thursday 27 August, followed by a prize-giving ceremony on the tournament’s final day to announce the winners.
The ladies teams will compete at the Mossel Bay Bowling Club for the week, while the mens teams will be stationed at the Hartenbos Bowling Club.
“This tournament is about more than the game of bowls,” said the president of the Eden District Nomads Bowls, Sandra Axsel.
“One of our most important aims is to raise funds that will enable us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people and animals in need. Through the generosity of businesses, individuals and our members, we hope to not only host a memorable and successful tournament, but also to make generous donations to deserving charities within the Eden District.”
The donations will be handed over to these various charities during Thursday evening’s prize-giving ceremony.
The Mossel Bay Mayor, Dirk Kotzé, will also be present during Sunday’s launch to roll the first bowl on the bowling greens.
