MOSSEL BAY NEWS - On Thursday, 19 October at approximately 22:40, Provincial Traffic inspector Danie Jansen van Rensburg arrested two transgressors on the N2.
The inspector attempted to stop a vehicle for a routine inspection on the N2, however, the driver of the vehicle did not obey his signal and instead fled the scene.
Jansen van Rensburg immediately gave chase and managed to stop the vehicle along the N2 close to PetroSA.
The driver was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, and for failing to stop when ordered to do so by a law enforcement officer.
Jansen van Rensburg noticed that the passenger had a shopping bag with him.
On investigation, it was found the bag contained four wrapped parcels of dagga, weighing a total of 588 grams. The passenger was therefore also arrested.
Two cases were opened at the KwaNonqaba Police Station.
The dagga, weighing a total of 588 grams, was found in the vehicle.
This past weekend a total of 30 motorists were arrested in the Western Cape for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
Two were arrested in Mossel Bay.
In addition, local provincial traffic officers arrested one motorists for false documentation.
