MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Da Gamaskop Police Station's commander, Lieutenant Colonel Mteto Sapepa, gave his final salute to the station's officers and personnel last Friday, 27 June, as he said his goodbyes at his farewell.
Held at the Bravo Lounge at the Garden Route Casino, his former colleagues and friends gathered together to bid the man who had been at the helm of the station since 11 December 2023 farewell.
Mossel Bay Advertiser previously reported when Sapepa first became the Da Gamaskop station commander, that he had started his career in the police service in Hermanus in 1990. He had also been the station commander at Stanford, Pacaltsdorp and Thembalethu police stations.
Although Sapepa was the Da Gamaskop Station's commander for just under two years, he left an indelible mark on those who worked with him, be they administration personnel or police officers.
The Garden Route District's police commissioner, Major General Phumzile Cetyana, was also present at the event and said them losing Sapepa's knowledge and experience was like a library closing its doors.
He said Sapepa had done his part for the police and deserved his well-earned rest.
