MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Bonnievale resident Johnny Hendricks (65) visited the KwaNonqaba Police Station on Thursday, 22 May, during his cycle tour to raise awareness of crime and give communities safety tips.
Hendricks visited the police station before he was set to cycle all the way back to Bonnievale on Friday, 23 May. He has visited Mossel Bay before during his crime awareness travels.
He told Mossel Bay Advertiser he left Bonnievale on 12 May and cycled to Gqeberha. From there he went to various towns along the Garden Route, stopping to speak to communities and schools about corruption and keeping safe.
Hendricks said his cycle tours are self-funded and that he does them because of his passion for wanting people to be aware of different criminal elements and how to stay safe.
He has done several tours and met many people, some of whom gave him a place to stay when he visited their town.
He cycles alone and says God protects him and looks after him.
Hendricks added that he was about to retire soon, after which he would cycle permanently to raise awareness of crime.
