MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Copper theft from Eskom's overhead lines has been the cause of the power outage in large parts of Nautilus Bay and environs since around 03:30 on Tuesday, 22 June.
Mossel Bay municipal spokesperson, Nickey le Roux says Eskom worked all day yesterday on rebuilding the stolen lines but had to withdraw from the site at around 19:00 last night to continue working on the repairs this morning.
“Eskom is currently working on the site, and the preliminary estimate is that they should restore the supply by 17:00 this afternoon, 23 June.”
Meanwhile, the municipality has last night, as an emergency measure, connected an alternative supply to Nautilus Bay, however, the capacity is limited, and it seems that there are still streets that will intermittently receive electricity until Eskom's work is finally completed.
