Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Sonwabile Mbambo (39), the man accused of the murder of Heleen Annandale (62) in September 2025, made another appearance in the Mossel Bay Regional Court on Tuesday 25 August.
Mbambo is facing charges of murder as well as theft of a motor vehicle.
He was arrested by the Mossel Bay Police shortly after Annandale's body was discovered in her Mossel Bay flat with a wound to her neck.
During some previous appearances in June and July, Mbambo's legal representation and the State were granted time for consultation between the two parties to discuss the possibility of having the accused's sentence reduced should the case reach a sentencing stage.
The consultation would likely involve the presentation of differing or additional evidence that could be considered substantial enough to reduce a possible sentence, should Mbambo be convicted.
The matter will continue in the regional court on 15 October.
