MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The talented orchestra and choir of Carpe Musicam! put on a musical concert in the Mossel Bay Town Hall, titled The Rest of the Best!, on Sunday 19 October.
Before the music began, the group invited the audience to clap along and join the fun, filling the room with a buzzing energy.
Under the direction of conductor Norman Carless, and with Elsabe Barkhuizen as the main organiser, the orchestra and choir performed a diverse musical repertoire.
Instruments ranging from violins and bass clarinets to various flutes created a rich tapestry of sound.
The programme featured music for every taste and generation - from upbeat, jolly tunes to softer, more reflective pieces. Highlights included “Dancing Queen” by ABBA, a playful rendition of “The Pink Panther” theme and selections that transported the audience from Western classics to cinematic adventures.
The stirring theme from the film How to Train Your Dragon whisked listeners away on a musical journey across the globe with its Nordic-inspired melodies.
The ensemble’s next concert will be a festive Christmas special, titled The Best of Christmas, taking place in Sedgefield, George and Mossel Bay on 7, 12 and 14 December respectively. Tickets are available on www.carpemusicam.co.za.
