MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Black Aces Football Club celebrated a fantastic win in the Mossel Bay Local Football Association (MOLFA) U17 Junior League competition on 27 October.
The team scored 23 goals across nine games, without a single goal from opposing teams being scored against them.
According to the team's coach, Oyama Sicetsha, this means that no other participating team scored more goals than the Black Aces.
Things were looking rocky for the team when the league began. Black Aces were the smallest squad with only 13 players that were active, after their 14th player was injured, ruling him out for the rest of the season.
Nonetheless, he played a large role in assisting the team by conducting some of the training sessions, making sure the team was in good condition when it came to fitness, explains their coach.
"It wasn't an easy task to achieve this record, as other teams were also capable of winning the league, but my boys fought until the end," said Sicetsha, who is exceptionally proud of his team.
He reminded the boys to take it one game at a time and encouraged them to work hard. "Indeed their hard work paid off," he said.
Other Black Aces Football Club teams that participated in the league were the U11 B-team and the U11 A-team, who finished in third and eighth place, respectively.
The U13 team came fourth and the U15 team, sixth, in their age groups.
