MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The two men (27 and 31) accused of the rape of a 25-year-old woman in Asla Park, KwaNonqaba, on Friday 26 September appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court again today, 6 October, for bail application procedures.
The victim’s friends and family held a small protest outside the court today to show their support and to oppose the possibility of bail being granted.
The KwaNonqaba Police Station’s spokesperson, Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, previously told Mossel Bay Advertiser that the woman had allegedly received a lift from a man after a party in the early hours of 26 September, and that he took her to his home where he and his friend allegedly raped her.
A case of rape was opened at the KwaNonqaba Police Station and was then transferred to the Mossel Bay Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
The two suspects were arrested shortly after.
The case has been postponed to Wednesday 8 October. Both of the accused remain in police custody.
