MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The 2023 Toughest (male) Firefighter Alive SA comes from the Southern Cape - Emile Conrad from Garden Route District Municipality has done it again.
It is the sixth time that this humble athlete has won this tough contest.
At the 2022 competition, which was also held at De Bakke in Mossel Bay Hermanus Gouws from West Rand walked away with the title.
The female section was won by Msithamako Moswete from West Rand. The delighted Moswete told the Advertiser that it was her first attempt and that she could hardly believe that she had done it!
Both the male and female winning teams come from the West Rand.
The title of the Best Mossel Bay Firefighter went to JC Botha and the Mossel Bay female team was awarded the best Female Team.
A total of 240 male and female contestants made up the 30 teams that took part over a period of three days in very trying weather conditions.
It was the second year that the competition was held in Mossel Bay and the participants will be back for more in 2024.
The male winner of the Toughest Firefighter Alive SA is Emile Conrad from the Garden Route District Municipality in George. It is the sixth time that he has walked away with the title. His biggest supporter, his wife Bonita, is also a firefigter. With them are their sons David (left) and Matthew.
