MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Members of the Da Gamaskop Police who attended a domestic violence complaint in Ruiterbos suffered serious injuries after a 37-year-old suspect attacked them with a spade.
The incident took place at approximately 03:00 on 1 March.
The members arrived at a residence where an incident of domestic violence was reported, only to find that the suspect had fled the scene.
Leaving the scene, they noticed a man carrying a spade. The man called out to them to stop the police vehicle and allegedly said that he took the spade from another person who tried to attack him. As the members turned around to get back into the police vehicle, the man attacked them from behind with the spade.
Both police members are begin treated in a local hospital. The suspect was arrested after the injured members made a distress call for reinforcements.
