MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Bahia Bleu restaurant at Diaz Beach Hotel is the venue for the second Wine & Whatever Experience – an event launched in 2019 to the great delight of oenophiles from the Garden Route and beyond.
In this event presented by this fine dining Mossel Bay eatery in partnership with WESGRO, food and wine fundis will have a chance to sample products from 10 farms, collectively offering 40 different wines for the tasting on 29 and 30 October.
“We are delighted to support such a great initiative that will contribute positively towards the rebuilding of our event and hospitality sector,” says WESGRO chief marketing officer Monika Iuel. “The wine industry plays an important role in the Western Cape economy, and events like Wine & Whatever provide a splendid opportunity to showcase our wines.”
Boplaas, Bonnievale, Herold and Du Toitskloof Wines have signed up for the pleasure to introduce their products to an appreciative audience, with distributors including Brand Republic, South Cape Distributors and Garden Route Cargo.
Red wines include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinotage, Sangiovese and Shiraz, and white cultivars comprise Sauvignon and Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Viognier.
Organiser Alewijn Dippenaar of Thousand Sensations boutique beer fame explains that the Wine & Whatever concept was specifically designed to offer an alternative tasting format, with its primary focus on experiencing singular varietals from various farms at the same time.
All participants are set on informing and educating consumers, thus increasing the appreciation and enjoyment of budding wine connoisseurs.
Apart from the delectable dishes served by Bahia Bleu, there will be three food demonstrations – one on the Friday and two on the Saturday – to send taste buds into a heavenly tizz.
