MOSSEL BAY NEWS - An armed robbery took place yesterday evening, 8 August, in KwaNonqaba.
KwaNonqaba Police spokesperson Sergeant Kappie Kapp said a firearm was used in the incident. Four men entered the shop, Hampers, in Adriaans Avenue, near Shoprite, at 18:00.
They demanded cash from the Ethiopian foreign national shop owner. They bound the shop owner with cable ties and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and a cellphone.
Sgt Kapp said there were no injuries.
KwaNonqaba Police detectives are investigating.
Members of the public with any information which could help in the investigation are asked to contact the KwaNonqaba Police (044 606 5056). All information will be treated confidentially.
Sgt Kapp urged people not to "fight back" should they find themselves the victim of an armed robbery. This could result in "loss of life", he warned. People should remain calm and co-operate during an armed robbery. "People are desperate," Sgt Kapp said, referring to criminals.
