MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - Rylan Lemmetuis (12) of Mossel Bay took the International Performing Arts Championships (IPAC) in New Jersey, United States, by storm.
They took place from 9 to 18 July and Rylan was part of the SA team.
He was the only one in the team from Mossel Bay.
Rylan came first in his age group in the best Broadway song category, first in his age group in the best pop song category and second overall in the best pop song category.
The Broadway song he sang was Never Enough, from The Greatest Showman, and the pop song, Always Remember Us This Way by Lady Gaga.
Rylan is a learner at Curro Mossel Bay independent school.
He will also be attending the South African Championships of Performing Arts in Rustenburg from 29 September to 7 October.
He told Mossel Bay Advertiser this week he enjoyed the experience in New Jersey and made many friends. He is focusing on theatre, as opposed to film and television.
What Rylan is looking forward to most right now is playing the role of Kurt von Trapp in Sound of Music, playing at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town during December.
He secured this high-profile role during auditions in Cape Town recently.
Rylan said: "My big dream is to perform in a large theatre."
