MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Roadblocks were held on busy roads in Mossel Bay like Bill Jeffrey Ave, in reaction to too many members of the public still not adhering to the lockdown regulations.
“We urge the community to stay at home and not communte unnecessarily. There are too many people on the street, going to shops and too many vehicles moving around,” says spokesperson of the Da Gamaskop Police, Capt Wollie Fourie.
Captain Fourie says that the police are inundated with enquiries regarding the issuing of permits to travel. “The only permits we can supply to the public, includes permits to travel to funerals where less than 50 people will congregate. This also applies only to immediate family of the deceased.”
“Those stopped at road blocks and found to be in transgression with the regulations will be fined and issued a summons. If they do have a legitimate reason for being on the road, they will have to prove so in court.”
