MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Hartenbos River Mouth has been opened mechanically.
On enquiry, chairman of the Hartenbos River Forum Phillip Vermaak, told the Mossel Bay Advertiser, the mouth was opened because the river level was so high that it was a threat to properties and houses along the river.
Vermaak said rough sea conditions and high seas had caused the river to fill with water. Now, with the mouth open, the water could flow back to sea.
