MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Lili Syce, a Grade 12 learner at Point High School, has won a bursary as a finalist in the Western Cape Education Department Nedbank Essay Competition.
She said: "I entered the competition last year in Grade 11.
"I had to write a well-researched essay on how Covid-19 had affected the global economy, specifically South Africa. I also had to provide recommendations to the national government on how to go forward."
"It was the first thorough research I had ever done and I learnt many beneficial skills from it, such as critical analysis. I thank Ms Schoeman for guiding me through the process and providing advice. I couldn't have done it without her. It is a great privilege to receive a bursary as well as a cash prize.
"The bursary will go towards financing my BCom Law degree at Stellenbosch University. I encourage every learner to stay focused on goals. Self-discipline and perseverance are the ultimate keys to success."
