MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay Municipality is embarking on a planned construction project in Marsh Street and a portion of Church and Spring Street, in the Mossel Bay Central Business District (CBD).
The successful contractor, Benver Civils and Plant Hire, will commence with the project on Wednesday, 10 April and the work is expected to be completed by the end of June 2019.
The project includes the construction of civil infrastructure for the Mossel Bay Water Replacement Project. The planned work will include, among other, but are not limited to:
- Excavation by hand to expose existing services and construct new trenches for new pipelines
- Construction of new 110mm to 250mm uPVC pressure water pipelines
- Connecting of water house connections
- Storm water relocation of manholes and pipework
- Reinstating excavated road layer works and paving
Although Marsh Street will not be closed for the duration of the project, road users may expect delays as a result of lane closures for uninterrupted construction work.
Temporary sign boards, markings and traffic control measures will be put in place to ensure safe construction and road crossing. Flagmen will also be appointed during operations.
"We urge the public to approach the area with caution and at all times to adhere to road rules to ensure the safety of all road users.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused," municipal spokesperson Colin Puren said.
The area affected by the planned roadworks is marked in red.
