MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A 72 hour activation plan of SAPS was put in motion after the fatal shooting of a 65-year-old resident of Extention 13 in Mossel Bay.
The Da Gamaskop SAPS confirmed that a case docket of murder, attempted murder and business robbery is being investigated after police responded to a business robbery in progress on Thursday evening, 12 October 2023, at 20:05. The robbery took place at a shop in Marlin Street.
"On arrival on the scene the 65-year-old male was found lying in front of the store, wounded. A 36-year-old foreign national was wounded inside the store. They were both allegedly shot. According to witness reports four unknown men fled the scene after multiple shots were fired at about 19:50," said warrant officer Kappie Kapp, police spokesperson.
Kapp said both victims were taken to the provincial hospital where it was later reported that the 65-year-old had died of his wounds. The foreign national man was later transported to George Hospital for further medical assistance.
The Da Gamaskop SAPS has deployed all possible resources to assist with the ongoing investigation.
