MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A man was rescued by volunteers of the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) lifeguarding section at the Poort swimming area at The Point, Mossel Bay, yesterday, 15 December.
At about 14:00, he was hit by a strong current amid the rocks in the section of the sea near the ice cream vendors, and suffered cuts and abrasions.
NSRI Mossel Bay commander JC Roos said the man was out of breath. The NSRI lifeguarding volunteers acted quickly, rescuing him from the water and they treated his cuts and grazes, Roos said.
A number of bystanders witnessed the rescue. A thank you to the NSRI lifeguards was posted on a popular Mossel Bay community Facebook site.
