MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Planned caesareans and natural deliveries will be accommodated in the Life Bay View Private Hospital in Mossel Bay as usual.
This follows a statement from the hospital yesterday saying that it has reached its full capacity.
Regional Manager, Riaan Croucamp says the hospital has experienced an increase in COVID-19 cases.
He says due to this increase and the patients already admitted for non-Covid related conditions, the hospital has reached its capacity for admissions. Croucamp says at this stage, the hospital is on temporary capacity divert, a standard practice amongst all public and private hospitals that can change at any point within a 24-hour period.
He says apart from cardiac emergencies, all cases will be diverted to other hospitals.
On Monday Mossel Bay recorded the highest number of covid 19 cases in the Garden Route with a total of 543 people who have tested positive for the virus.
