MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A house in Dyosi Street in KwaNonqaba was partially destroyed by fire last week, seemingly by a jealous boyfriend of one of the occupants.
The suspect was arrested the same evening and has since appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court.
The victims suffered losses of close to R100 000 as a result of the fire.
A community member, Vuyani Ngqawuza, said the prevalence of drug abuse in the area, specifically of Tik, had an adverse effect on family life and was directly responsible for the increase in criminal activities in the area.
Relief for victims
"The dire situation that the family in Dyosi Street faced, however, fortunately had a good ending as Khululekani Ngubeni, the owner of Inyameko Construction, decided to rebuild the house and repair all the damage," Ngqawuza said.
Inyameko Construction is currently building a clinic in Asla Park which is sponsored by PetroSA and has been involved with the construction of the South Cape College near Heiderand.
The investigating officer in the case is Sgt Kakaza of the KwaNonqaba Police (074 915 1467).
