GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - For the past few years, some grade 12 learners were offered the opportunity to extend their matric examination over more than one year, a programme known as More Examination Opportunities (MEO or Second Chance Matric).
MEO candidates who registered for certain subjects in the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination in October/November 2018, can now make use of additional tutoring at Knysna Secondary School and George Secondary School to prepare them for the examination.
Subjects offered are Afrikaans Home Language, Business Studies, Economics, Geography, Life Sciences, Mathematical Literacy, Mathematics and Physical Sciences.
In addition, Business Studies, Life Sciences and Mathematical Literacy will also be offered in Mossel Bay at Hillcrest Secondary School and Bridgton Secondary School in Oudtshoorn.
This opportunity is also available to other candidates who were not enrolled at a school this year, and need one or more subjects to obtain their NSC.
A full program with dates and times of different classes are available at the above mentioned four schools or at the education office in the four towns mentioned above.

There will be 5 classes per subject, with duration of 3 hours each (15 hours in total). On weekdays the time slots are 16:00 untill 19:00, and where classes are scheduled for a Saturday, the time slots are 09:00 untill 12:00.
Bilingual classes will be offered where appropriate. A minimum of 10 candidates who registered for a subject at a school are required, and a maximum of 30 candidates per subject can be accommodated at each school on a first-come first-served basis.
No transport or meals/refreshments will be provided. A limited amount of learning material will be provided per subject.
Candidates who wish to utilize this opportunity can approach the school where the classes will be offered OR the education office in Knysna, George, Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn to obtain an application form. Closing dates for registration are 8 October 2018 at 12:00.
