MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Locals learnt with great shock of much-loved chef Lloyd Hughes' untimely death last weekend.
Hughes (37) died of natural causes on Sunday, 4 October.
"You travel through life meeting all sorts of people. And some of us are lucky enough to cross paths with someone who just changes everything, changes your whole world.
"And I think, for a lot of people, that someone was Lloyd.
"He was a ray of sunlight, even on the cloudiest of days.
"His laugh was infectious and loud and you just couldn't help but laugh with him," says his wife, Katie.
She says Lloyd loved Mossel Bay.
"This was his home, no matter how far he travelled; he would always come back."
"We will miss his laugh; everyone will really miss his food. He had a huge heart and hug for all and I think he ended up just spreading it a bit too thin.
"He passed away peacefully, so we must give thanks and smile for the gift of his life he gave to all of us. We, the family, are eternally grateful for the absolutely incredible outpouring of love and support."
There will be a service this Saturday for family and close friends.
On Saturday, 17 October, a memorial, open to the public, will be held at Santos Beach.
