MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Garden Route Casino Community Trust donated 18 full soccer kits to 18 Mossel Bay League Soccer associations, as part of the casino's sports development programme.
The handover took place on Saturday, 16 February at the soccer fields at Extension 13, KwaNonqaba.
According to Michael Carelse, the representative from the community trust, the kits are worth R100 000 in total.
Carelse told the attendees this was not where it would stop. "We, as the trust, will in the very near future also donate sports kits to cricket, rugby and other sport codes. It is our social responsibility. We want to develop and support different sport codes."
Carelse told the management of the soccer teams to receive this donation as a token of appreciation for what they, the sports enthusiasts, did for the community through sport.
"We love sport. It kills the germs out there," Carelse said, referring to gangsterism and crime.
