MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Venerable Eugene le Fleur, rector of St Peter's Anglican Church, passed away on Saturday, 19 December.
He was archdeacon of the Mossel Bay Archdeaconry.
Le Fleur is remembered as a cool, calm and collected person, the Reverend Robin du Plessis told the Mossel Bay Advertiser.
Although Le Fleur was a senior priest in the Anglican diocese of George, he remained humble, modest and a servant leader of note.
He was also a good adviser and negotiator, Du Plessis said.
Among the clergy and his family, he was the voice of reason. He remained level-headed and wise during debates and even disagreements.
To those in despair he served as one who deeply cares. The Venerable Eugene's life was a living example of Psalm 116:16: "O, Lord truly I am thy servant."
Rev Le Fleur is survived by his wife Melanie and his two daughters, Monique and Dominique.
"By God's grace his influence shall last. He has always put Christ first. Rest well. You had an immeasurable impact on all our lives," Du Plessis concluded.
