MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Support for the sterling job the Mossel Bay Fire and Rescue teams are doing in battling the fire at Brandwag is growing by the minute.

The rain being experienced in Mossel Bay has not yet reached Brandwag, but will hopefully soon bring very necessary relief.

The firefighting crew used to extinguish the fire along Bill Jeffrey Drive in Mossel Bay earlier today has since been deployed to fight the raging fires in Brandwag where Hamelkop, Leeukloof and areas directly behind Brandwag have been identified as priorities. According to latest reports, residents in the Hamelkop area were evacuated earlier today. A house in the area suffered fire damage.

The fire at Boland Park in Mossel Bay has been extinguished and the crew responsible will now also be deployed to the Brandwag area, where they will battle a fire in the Waterkloof area as property is threatened by the blaze.

The Mossel Bay Fire and Rescue teams are awaiting assistance from Oudtshoorn Disaster Management, who in turn are battling fires in the Meiringspoort area of the Swartberge.
