Building on the foundations laid during last year’s campaign, HIV/AIDS testing stations were set up in six areas, including Joe Slovo, Asla Park, Sonskynvallei, Elangeni, Powertown (Little Brak) and the taxi rank in the Mossel Bay CBD.
According to Alma Kritzinger, Disability, Gender, Elderly & HIV/AIDS Officer from the Mossel Bay Municipality, the basis of this year’s campaign was to measure the levels of awareness and whether community members come forward more readily to have their HIV/AIDS status determined.
Kritzinger said that they were very pleased with the results this year and that this collaborative effort between various departments and NGOs proves valuable enough to become an annual event. The campaign was concluded this week at an event hosted by the ATKV, during which certificates of appreciation were given to all volunteers who offered their time.

The Mossel Bay Municipality coordinated a HIV/AIDS commnity outreach campaign, bringing together various departments and NGOs.
