GARDEN ROUTE | HESSEQUA NEWS - The South African Weather Service (SAWS) warns that special care must be taken on the coastline today (Tuesday 30 June) as unusual wave periods may occur.
This may result in sudden, large, powerful waves in between smaller ones.
Because of this unusual wave period, a quick glance at the sea during a lull in waves may not reveal the hidden danger of a larger wave that may suddenly break the pattern of the smaller waves.
These periodic large waves may have the potential to damage some vulnerable coastal infrastructure.
The NSRI have asked that the public be extra cautious around the coastline and follow SA Weather Service (SAWS) forecasts.
