BUSINESS NEWS AND VIDEO - The Vista do Mar restaurant in the Bayview Centre, Mossel Bay, is the only authentic Portuguese restaurant in the greater Mossel Bay area.
Here you can expect delicious Portuguese food and wines and warm hospitality.
Also, as the name suggests, there is a beautiful, sweeping vista of the bay of Mossel Bay.
All ingredients are super fresh. Menu favourites include traditional flame-grilled chicken, gorgeously impressive Portuguese meat kebabs called espetada, and line fish.
But besides these, there are plenty more tasty dishes. The paella is a hit, as are the chicken livers and the prawns.
You will also enjoy the rousing Portuguese music and relaxed, sociable atmosphere.

The reason behind the success of the restaurant is the owner, Eugene Camara. Growing up on the Portuguese island of Madeira, Eugene enjoyed being in the kitchen, even from the young age of 13. He developed a love and passion for preparing food. Espetada originated in Madeira.

Eugene came to South Africa, aged 17, and by 18, he was a qualified griller.
Roaring success
After owning his own restaurant in Johannesburg, Eugene came to Mossel Bay two years ago. Despite the challenges of opening Vista do Mar during the lockdown, it is a roaring success and now Eugene is celebrating his eatery's first birthday bash on 23 and 24 October.
Eugene has a special, not-to-be-missed menu for this bash.
Highly sociable, he says: "I am living my dream: entertaining and being surrounded by people all the time."
Eugene Camara and his staff love hosting people and making them feel at home.
Another reason for the success of his business is that he is extremely hands on. You will usually find him in the restaurant from early in the morning, enjoying a strong espresso. He is always on hand to check on all aspects of the business.
Eugene finds it extremely special and fitting that he has brought a "piece of Portugal" to Mossel Bay, which was discovered by Portuguese mariner Bartholomeu Dias and which has several Portuguese place names in honour of Dias.
"You don't have to go to Portugal to find good Portuguese food. I have brought it here!" Eugene exclaims.
