BUSINESS NEWS - Notice is herewith given that the Council of Mossel Bay Municipality resolved in terms of Council Resolution, Item E46-02/2021 held on 25 February 2021 to approve the hosting of the IRONMAN 70.3, MOSSEL BAY (PTY) LTD on 6 November 2022.
In terms of the Council Resolution exemption is granted to IRONMAN 70.3 MOSSEL BAY (PTY) LTD, in terms of Regulation 12 of the Western Cape Noise Control Regulations, 2013. The affected areas are the following:
- the transition area at De Bakke Beach parking area;
- swim starting at Santos Beach;
- the finish line at the Point;
and at the following aid stations on the bike and run course:
- the R327 bike turn around point outside Herbertsdale;
- R327/Kleinberg Road crossing;
- George Road/ Wiggett Street crossing;
- Bland Street/Station Street crossing; as well as
- the awards dinner at Diaz Beach Hotel car park.
Take further note that in terms of Section 31(6) of the Mossel Bay Municipality By-Law Relating to Streets that the following streets and public places will be temporarily closed on 6 November 2022.
R327 (between the N2 intersection and 5km prior to Herbertsdale: Road Closed)
- Time: 07:30-13:30
- This road portion is closed completely.
- Alternative routes via Albertinia/Kleinberg in the west and Brandwacht/Hartebeeskuildam in the east.
The N2 (between Louis Fourie Rd and R327 intersections: Lane restrictions)
- Time: 05:30-13:45
- This 3km portion of N2 in both directions will be reduced to a 60km/h zone with the inner lane reserved for athletes cycling. The outer lanes will be open to vehicular traffic.
- The N2 east bound lane will encounter a stop-and-go at the R327 intersection allowing cyclists to cross.
Louis Fourie Drive (between Marsh Street and N2: Lane restrictions)
- Time: 05:00-14:00
- This portion of Louis Fourie will be reduced to a 60km/h zone with the inner lane reserved for athletes cycling. The
- outer lanes will be open to vehicular traffic.
- The only crossover points over Louis Fourie Road are Marsh Street; Schoeman/Da Gama Street; Melkhout/Mossel
- Street; Essenhout/Grunter Street; Mayixhale/Spekboom Street, Crotz- and Flora Road. To access Dana Bay/Flora
- Road from the N2 side, drive past Flora and cross over at Crotz Road.
Louis Fourie Drive (between Bakke Street and Marsh Street: Road Closed)
- Time: 05:00-14:00
- This portion of Louis Fourie Road is completely closed to all traffic.
- Use a detour between Bakke Street in Fairview and Marsh Street in Da Nova via Eiland Street, Alhof Drive and Da Gama Street. (Detour passes d’Almeida, Ridgeview Primary School and Da Nova SuperSpar).
- An alternative option is to use the N2 between Die Voorbaai/Hartenbos and Central/Heiderand/KwaNonqaba/Dana Bay.
George Road (between Louis Fourie Road and Rudie Barnard Street: Road Closed).
- Time: 05:00-17:30
- This portion of the road is closed. Residents of De Bakke can use 6th Avenue/Marsh Street as an access point.
George Road (between Church Street and Rudie Barnard Street: Lane restrictions)
- Time: 05:00-17:30
- The De Bakke bound lanes are open to traffic; however, the Point bound lanes will be closed to traffic.
- Church Street is a crossover point for vehicular traffic to the harbour, Diaz Museum, Protea Hotel and the Checkers Centre.
Bland Street (between Church Street and Kloof Street: Road closed)
- Time: 05:00-17:30
- Church Street is a crossover point for Bland Street.
Bland Street (between Kloof Street and Point Street: Lane restrictions)
- Time: 05:00-17:30
- Beach Street is a crossover point for traffic to the Port of Mossel Bay Gate 3. (Use Daley- and Kloof Street to access (Gate 3).
- The Point bound lanes are closed to traffic while Mossel Bay Central bound lanes are open to traffic up to Kloof Street where traffic must turn left into Mossel Bay Central.
- Residents of Daley Street, Huckle Street and Beacon Point must use Beach Street as access point to Mossel Bay Central.
- Residents of Point Village may only turn right out of Wallace Road towards Mossel Bay Central.
Point Road (entire Point Road from Bland Street to Upper Cross Street: Road closed).
- Time: Saturday 5 November 2022 06:00 to Sunday 6 November 2022 19:00 (No overnight parking on 5
- November 2022)
- The finish line and run chute is built on this road. Patrons are welcome to access the Point walkways, restaurants and other businesses as pedestrians.
Munro Street (between George Road and the Dias Museum lower gate: Road closed).
- Time: 05:00-17:00
- One lane is reserved for residents to exit via the Port of Mossel Bay between 05:00 and 09:45. Vehicles will only be able
- to return after 16:45. Patrons to Santos Beach, Santos Express and Beach Pavilion can park off site and walk via Munro Beach.
Station Street (between Church/Market Streets and Bland Street: Road closed).
- Time: 05:00-17:00
- Use Church Street to cross over George Road.
Coastal Walkway (Kloof Street to Point Road: Closed)
- Time: 09:00-17:30
- Closed to the public. Athletes will be running on the coastal pathway towards the Point.
- Take further note that in terms of Section 5 of the Mossel Bay Municipality By-Law Relating to the Control of the
- Seashore and Sea that no swimming or surfing will be allowed at the Santos Beach and De Bakke Beach from the
- swim starting point until the exit point as demarcated on the beach from sunrise until 10:00, when the last participant has exited the water.

Ingevolge die besluit is vrystelling verleen aan IRONMAN 70.3 MOSSELBAAI (EDMS) BPK ingevolge Regulasie 12 van die Wes-Kaapse Geraasbeheer Regulasies, 2013. Die geaff ekteerde areas is as volg:
- oorgangsgebied by die De Bakke Strand parkeerarea;
- beginpunt van swem by Santos Strand;
- eindstreep by die Punt;
by die volgende diens stasies op die fiets en draf roete:
- die R327 fi etsry omdraaipunt buite Herbertsdale;
- R327/Kleinberg padkruising;
- George Weg/ Wiggett Straatkruising;
- Bland Straat/Stasieweg kruising; asook;
- die prysuitdeling by Diaz Strand Hotel parkeerarea
- Neem verder kennis dat ingevolge Artikel 31(6) van die Mosselbaai Munisipaliteit se Verordening met betrekking tot
- Strate, die volgende strate en publieke areas tydelik gesluit sal wees op 6 November 2022.

- Hierdie deel van die pad sal gesluit wees.
- Alternatiewe roetes is via Albertinia/Kleinberg in die weste en Brandwacht/Hartbeeskuildam in die ooste.
Die N2 (tussen Louis Fourie Weg en die R327 kruising: Baan Beperkings)
- Tyd: 05:30-13:45
- Hierdie 3km gedeelte van die N2 in beide rigtings se spoedgrens sal verminder word na 60km/uur met binne bane
- gereserveer vir deelnemende fi etsryers. Die buite bane sal oop wees vir verkeer. Die N2 Ooswaarts sal ¤ stop-en-ry
- punt by die R327 kruising hê ten einde fi etsryers die pad te laat kruis.
Louis Fourie Weg (tussen Marshtrsaat en die N2: Baan Beperkings)
- Tyd: 05:00-14:00
- Hierdie deel van Louis Fourie Weg se spoedgrens sal verminder word na 60km/uur en die binne bane sal gereserveer
- wees vir deelnemende fi etsryers. Die buite bane sal oop wees vir verkeer. Die kruispunte oor Louis Fourie Weg is
- te Marshstraat-, Schoeman en Da Gamastraat, Melkhout en Mosselstraat, Essenhout en Gunterstraat, Mayixhale en
- Spekboomstraat, Crotz en Flora Weg. Ten einde toegang tot Flora Weg te bekom vanaf die N2 moet motoriste verby Flora Weg ry en by Crotzstraat oorgaan.
Louis Fourie Weg (Tussen Bakkestraat en Marshstraat: Pad Gesluit)
- Tyd: 05:00-14:00
- Hierdie deel van Louis Fourie Weg is gesluit vir alle verkeer.
- Die alternatiewe roete tussen Bakkestraat in Fairview en Marshstraat in Da Nova via Eilandstraat, Alhof Ry Laan en Da
- Gamastraat (verby D`Almeida, Ridgeview Primêr en Da Nova Super Spar) kan gebruik word.
- Verdere alternatief is om die N2 tussen Voorbaai/ Hartenbos en Heiderand/Kwanonqaba/ Danabaai te gebruik.
George Weg (tussen Louis Fourie Weg and Rudie Barnardstraat: Pad Gesluit)
- Tyd: 05:00-17:30
- Hierdie deel is gesluit, inwoners van De Bakke kan 6de Laan / Marshstraat gebruik vir toegang tot hul eiendomme.
George Weg (Tussen Kerkstraat en Rudie Barnardstraat: Baan Beperkings)
- Tyd: 05:00-17:30
- Die bane wat na De Bakke beweeg is oop vir verkeer, terwyl bane wat na die Punt beweeg gesluit is vir verkeer.
- Kerkstraat is ¤ kruis vir verkeer na die hawe, Diaz Museum, Protea Hotel en die Checkers Sentrum.
Blandstraat (Tussen Kerk- en Kloofstraat: Pad Gesluit)
- Tyd: 05:00-17:30
- Kerkstraat is ¤ kruispunt vir Blandstraat.
Blandstraat (Tussen Kloofstraat en Punt Weg: Baan Beperkings)
- Tyd: 05:00-17:30
- Beachstraat is ¤ kruispunt vir verkeer na die Hawe, Hek 3. (Gebruik Daley- en Kloofstraat vir toegang tot Hek 3).
- Bane wat na Punt Weg lei is gesluit vir verkeer, bane wat na die midde dorp lei is oop tot by Kloofstraat waar motoriste dan moet links draai na die middedorp.
- Inwoners van Daley-, Hucklestraat en Punt Weg moet Beach Weg as toegangspad gebruik na die middedorp.
- Inwoners van Point Village mag slegs regs vanuit Wallace Weg draai na die middedorp.
Punt Weg (Die geheel van Punt Weg, vanaf Blandstraat tot Upper Cross Straat: Pad Gesluit).
- Tyd: Saterdag 5 November 2022 06:00 tot Sondag 6 November 2022 om 19:00 (Geen oornag parkering op 5
- November 2022 nie)
- Die eindstreep en hardloop gang word gebou op hierdie pad. Besoekers kan besighede by die Punt bereik via die voetpaadjies.
Munrostraat (Tussen George Weg en die Dias Museum onderste hek: Pad Gesluit)
- Tyd: 05:00-17:00
- Een baan sal oop wees vir inwoners om die Hawe gebied te verlaat tussen 05:00 en 09:45. Voertuie sal eers na 16:45
- weer kan terugkeer. Besoekers aan Santos Strand, Santos Express en die Pavillion moet elders parkeer en te voet loop via Munro Strand.
Stasie Weg (tussen Kerk/Markstraat en Blandstraat: Pad Gesluit)
- Tyd: 05:00-17:00
- Gebruik Kerkstraat om te kruis na George Weg.
Kus voetpad (Kloofstraat tot Punt Weg: Gesluit)
- Tyd: 09:00-17:30
- Gesluit vir die publiek. Atlete sal met die kus voetpad hardloop na die Punt.
- Geliewe verder kennis te neem dat ingevolge Artikel 5 van die Mosselbaai Munisipaliteit Verordening Insake die Beheer
- van die Strand en See, geen swem of branderplankry toegelaat sal word op Santos– en De Bakke Strande vanaf die
- swem beginpunt, vanaf sonsopkoms tot 10:00, wanneer die laaste deelnemer die water en afgesperde gebied op die strand verlaat het.
