BUSINESS NEWS - The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is inviting eligible Grade 6 learners across South Africa to apply for its High School Scholarship Programme before 15 September closing date.
The Scholarship offers a long-term entrepreneurial development journey for young people who demonstrate curiosity, leadership potential and a desire to create meaningful change in their communities.
Successful recipients gain access to a structured entrepreneurial curriculum designed to build confidence, unlock potential and cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset from an early age.
The Scholarship programme covers tuition, boarding, a monthly allowance, extramural support and a programme designed to nurture leadership through workshops, conferences, mentorship and regional learning experiences.
The Foundation is looking for Grade 6 learners who demonstrate academic excellence, entrepreneurial leadership potential and financial need.
Parents, guardians, teachers and schools are encouraged to identify Grade 6 learners who demonstrate curiosity, resilience, initiative and a desire to solve problems in the world around them.
Scholarship application requirements:
- Completing Grade 6 in 2026
- The Scholarship opportunity is an entrepreneurial programme not only for financial support at high school
- Applicant must show interest in becoming an entrepreneur / business owner
- Applicant must obtain a minimum overall average of 70% for all subjects in Grade 5 and 6
- Applicants must obtain a minimum of 70% for both English and Mathematics in Grade 5 and 6.
- Applicants must clearly demonstrate financial need. (Household income must not exceed a monthly gross income of R20 000, including business revenue).
- Applicants must be South African citizens (with at least one parent who is a South African citizen).
- Candidates must not be older than 12 years of age and not younger than 11 years of age in grade 6 (Candidates must be born in 2014 or 2015)
Some of the main elements covered by the Scholarship include:
- Tuition and boarding
- Uniform, stationery, textbooks, toiletries and casual clothing
- A monthly allowance
- Support for extramural activities
- Workshops, speaker events and seminars
- Regional Entrepreneurial Experience sessions
- Annual entrepreneurial conference
- Online learning conference
- Programme Officer support, mentorship and one-on-one Courageous Conversations
