BUSINESS NEWS - Dr Mark Schroeder, the new face at Walk in Doctor & Dentist in Mosselbaai Mall, Heiderand, says he can't imagine himself doing any job other than being a dentist.

"There is nothing better," he says, with a beaming face and flashing white smile.

Dr Schroeder joined the practice on 1 February. He is originally from Windhoek, Namibia, and studied at the University of the Western Cape. 

He is, however, no stranger to the Southern Cape because this has always been a favourite holiday destination for him and his family.

The convenience of Walk in Doctor & Dentist is that no appointments are required. Patients can simply "walk in" during business hours - Monday to Friday (09:00-18:00), Saturday (09:00-17:00) and Sunday (09:00-13:00) - to seek advice or treatment.

From a treatment perspective, Dr Schroeder says that he believes it all starts with listening intently to the patient.

"As a dental health practitioner, I like to gain a comprehensive understanding of the patient's lifestyle and personality, before administering treatment."

He says that among his main objectives is influencing the oral hygiene of his patients. "Patients need to understand the importance of managing their dental health. I am here to advise and support."

He describes himself as approachable and friendly, with a keen desire to make his patient feel as comfortable as possible. "Making sure my patient is relaxed - that is a primary objective."

When he is not working and handling walk-ins at the practice, Dr Schroeder enjoys the great outdoors to relax. He is a keen hiker and rock climber.
